In a recent trip to the Highpoint Printmaking Center of Minneapolis, the Art in the Community class was given the unique opportunity to try their hands at Monoprinting. We were introduced to a variety of new materials and equipment that the students took to like pros. Each student was able to develop their own design for their prints using stencils and painting techniques on top of their printing plate. We ran their plates through a printing press and were left with some beautiful results. We are fortunate enough at Edison to have a mini printing press, which by request after this field trip, will be receiving more use this year!
The Tommies improved to 1-4 this past week with a road win at district and section opponent St. Paul Humboldt. Junior Vince Langley got the scoring going when he caught a slant pass from Junior Quarterback Malik Barnes. Junior running back Quindell Perry had 107 yards rushing, including a 23 yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter. Check out the highlights here. We will be hosting district and section opponent, Spectrum this Friday at Pete Guzy Field in NE Minneapolis. It is youth night, so any youth teams entering with their coach can watch free of charge.
Edison Outdoor Club, in collaboration with Wilderness Inquiry, visited Yellowstone National Park over the summer break. Ten students and two teachers attended the week long trip, which included hiking, canoeing, camping, and working on a service project that removed ten thousand feet of barb wire that had been impeding the migration paths of pronghorns. Read more about the trip in this article from the Northeaster (see page 7).
