Edison’s Green Council – a group of 14 environmentally-minded students – recently received a $1000 grant from Catalyst to implement a bike lock sharing program at Edison. Catalyst is a statewide movement of young people based in Minnesota working on two different issues: healthy eating/exercise and fighting the tobacco industry.
Seventy Target eMentors visited Edison on Dec.14, 2011. Mentors and mentees met for the first time face-to-face since they started emailing in November. The mentees gave the mentors a tour of the school, visited classrooms, and came back to the cafeteria to converse and share food. Edison received a grant of $500 to pay for transportation for the students to travel to Target Corporation in the spring to tour their mentors workplace and hear from top officials at Target the value of education and work. To date Target has supplied over 1200 mentors since the program started in 2000. Photos and More...
