Elementary School Night at our Varsity Girls' Basketball Game

Thursday, February 9– pre-game entertainment starts at 6:30

Game starts at 7 p.m.

Edison Community Gym – 700 22nd Ave NE - Mpls   

Join us at our 4th annual Elementary School Night! Cheer our Girls' Varsity Basketball Team to victory against the St. Paul Academy and Summit! 

 

Once again we will be featuring “fan of the game”. Elementary school students will have a chance to participate in a fun activity during half-time. Come and see our STEP team, dance team, and cheerleaders perform, meet our 2011 robot, musical performances, and much much more!

 

Pre-game musical performances start at 6:30 p.m. and the game starts at 7 p.m. Elementary school students get in free! (regular admission $6/adults, $4 students, and free for children under 7) Sightings of Eastside Elementary Principals, Elementary School staff and Community Celebrities likely!

 

District staff, Scott Redd, Mark Bonine and Michael Thomas will be drawing raffle prizes throughout the evening. School Board members Jenny Arneson and Jill Davis will also be in attendance. We hope to see you there!

Staying Green

dison’s Green Council – a group of 14 environmentally-minded students – recently received a $1000 grant from Catalyst to implement a bike lock sharing program at Edison. Catalyst is a statewide movement of young people based in Minnesota working on two different issues: healthy eating/exercise and fighting the tobacco industry.

Target e-Mentor Program

Seventy Target eMentors visited Edison on Dec.14, 2011. Mentors and mentees met for the first time face-to-face since they started emailing in November. The mentees gave the mentors a tour of the school, visited classrooms, and came back to the cafeteria to converse and share food. Edison received a grant of $500 to pay for transportation for the students to travel to Target Corporation in the spring to tour their mentors workplace and hear from top officials at Target the value of education and work. To date Target has supplied over 1200 mentors since the program started in 2000. Photos and More...
