2018 Eastside BBQ

The Edison Open House for new and returning students and their families is Thursday, August 23rd from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.  This is a great chance to pick up your schedule, meet your teachers, get to know the building, complete your lunch form and find out about clubs and activities.  If you haven't signed up for Athletics yet, you can get information at Open House, or better yet, sign up now and start practice ASAP (Fall sports start practices on Monday, August 13th).  Registration forms can be found here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PTNEyf8_HxDLNnA6IXuFIvEMkZ2-YPqy/view.  Contact brett.mcneal@mpls.k12.mn.us for more information.

Qualify for a Metro Transit Bus Card?  Cards will be available during the first week of school, or you can pick one up ahead of time on Thursday, August 23rd from 1:30pm-7:00pm in the Gym Lobby (across from Edison on the Monroe Street side).  Not sure if you qualify?  Get some information here: http://ccr.mpls.k12.mn.us/go-to.

The first day of classes for all Edison students is Monday, August 27th.  Doors open at 7:45am, classes start at 8:15am and school dismisses at 3pm.  At Open House and during the first days of school, you'll find out more about what school supplies you will need for each of your classes.  We recommend having at least 1 notebook, 1 folder and 1 writing utensil for the first day.  Since we don't typically assign lockers until after the first week of classes, it doesn't hurt to have a backpack or bag for your books.

Be sure to complete your Lunch Form.  You can pick one up at Open House or complete the application here: https://www.schoolcafe.com.  Although breakfast and lunch are free for all, we still need your Free and Reduced Lunch form to help support our school funding and provide eligible families with other important benefits.

As you prepare for the first day of school, make sure your clothes meet Dress Code requirements.  Learn the code and other important Edison policies and procedures by reviewing the Student Handbook here: http://edison.mpls.k12.mn.us/uploads/edison_20student_20handbook_2017-18.pdf (ignore the dates, they will be updated soon).

We look forward to seeing you at Thomas Edison High School soon!
