Personal Electronic Devices (PEDs)

Thomas Edison High School has adopted a Responsible Use policy towards all electronic devices. The following procedures will be followed for this school year.

  • Students are permitted to use their electronic devices before and after school.
  • Students are permitted to use electronic devices during their individual assigned lunch period.
  • Students may not use their electronic devices anytime during classes or passing time. They must be turned off and cannot be given attention even if they vibrate!
  • Students may not use electronic devices to engage in bullying, harassment, or other illegal or threatening behavior at any time.
  • Students found violating the responsible use policy during the school day will be dealt with in the following progressive discipline process:

1st Offense – Taken away until end of day

2nd Offense – Parent must come in and pick up

3rd Offense – Device will be held by administrator until the end of the grading period.

Students are NOT allowed to use cell phones, IPODs, mp3 players, cameras, CD players and other electronic devices from the time they enter the school building until 3:00 pm. The use of PEDs and/or its accessories during the aforementioned time will result in confiscation by a dean. Additional infractions will result in a meeting with the student's parent(s)/guardian(s) and can escalate to confiscation of the PED until the end of the quarter. Students who bring PEDs to school do so at their own risk.

This means: Thomas Edison High School is not liable or responsible for lost or stolen Personal Electronic Devices. Therefore, we will not invest time or resources searching for lost or stolen Personal Electronic Devices!
