Scholarships for 2011-12

For those of you planning on going to college, you will need as many scholarships as possible, especially if you are looking at going to a private college. Check your email for scholarship opportunities. Before applying, see if you qualify.

Naviance also has many scholarships opportunities. You need to:

  • Login to Naviance, Click the Colleges Tab, Scroll Down, -  Click "Scholarship List"

1 - Horatio Alger Scholarship - Minimum 2.0 GPA, US Citizen, involvement in co-curricular and community activities, needs to be pursuing a 4 year (bachelor's degree) - 10 - $5000 scholarships awarded from Al and Cathy Annexstad.  Applicants must be a resident (living in) Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott or Washington counties in Minnesota. 3 - KFC Colonel’s Scholars – GPA of 2.75 or higher, pursuing a bachelor’s degree, US Citizen or permanent resident --- Application available December 1, 2011 - February 8, 2012.

12 – For those students who are interested in History, Politics, Government or Military – Washington Crossing Foundation National Scholarships - $1000 - $7500.  Applications must be received by January 15, 2012.

14 - MINNESOTAJOBS.COM has scholarships available for students.  Every quarter they award one
$1,000 scholarship to a student.  This program was founded to help future Minnesota employees get the skills they need in our ever changing and growing work force.

28 - City of Minneapolis Scholarship at St. Thomas University.  Each of the Minneapolis Public Schools big 7 high schools receives 1 full-tuition, renewable scholarship.  If you would like to apply for this scholarship, you must apply to St. Thomas and complete the application at www.stthomas.edu/financialaid/undergraduate/freshmen/scholarships/minneapolis  The deadline is March 2, 2012

43 – The ACE Award presented by the East Minneapolis Exchange Club is for $500 - $1000 to students graduating from a NE High School. The only 2 high schools in NE are Edison and Menlo. We have received this award many times before. Students are strongly recommended to apply. Due date: April 15. All are encouraged to apply. See application Word file below.
