On Sunday, September 21, Outdoor Club students enjoyed a fun day of paddle boarding and kayaking on Lake Calhoun.  Students met at 11am at the Lake Calhoun pier.  After safety and equipment checks, the students got right in the water.  Most students paddle boarded, with a few kayaking.  Students were led on a tour of the Chain of Lakes.  Beginning on Lake Calhoun, students then paddled to Lake of the Isles where they participated in some light-hearted races.  Next, students paddled to Cedar Lake.  While paddling into the lake, the students spotted a Great Blue Heron.  It was a very special sight!  After a quick tour of Cedar Lake, the students paddled back to the boat dock.  All students said they enjoyed the activity, and that they would like to paddle board again.

Outdoor Club would like to thank all who participated in the paddle boarding event.  Participating students included: Elektra, Ty, Carlaya, David, Lee, Lai, Nai, Chue, and Long.  Paddle boards and kayaks were provided free-of-charge by Wheel Fun Rentals.  Take a second and check out Wheel Fun Rentals' website by click here.  Students were chaperoned by Outdoor Club sponsors Randy Baum and John Strand as well as by two other Edison teachers, Rachel Hoemke and Michael Williams.  Logan Lee from Wilderness Inquiry also helped supervise the event.  A local organization dedicated to outdoor education, Wildnerness Inquiry (WI) partners with Edison Outdoor Club on my of the Club's events.  Please take a second and learn more about WI by clicking here

The next Outdoor Club event is on October 4.  Mr. Baum will take students rock climbing at Taylors Falls.  Mr. Baum has climbed for 10 years.  He has climbed all over the world, from the big walls of Yosemite to the limestone cliffs of Spain.  He is excited to share his passion for rock climbing with the Outdoor Club students.  To learn more about the rock climbing event, please attend the Outdoor Club meeting this Friday, September, 26, during Advisory in Room 113.
