Welcome to Mr. Lundgren's Spiffy website at Edison High School.

Mr. Lundgren grew up locally and has lived in the NE Minneapolis Area all of his life. His father, many friends, and several of his relatives attended and graduated from Minneapolis Public Schools. He is excited to work within his community after several years of working in St. Paul Public Schools.

He attended the University of Minnesota and received a Bacholars

of Science in Child Psychology. Matthew recieved his teaching licenses after attending graduate school at the University of St. Thomas. He has worked collaborativly with students, their parents and school staff to promote community building and academic success for our students.

He has a firm belief in education over suspension and will back that up with exhausting all possibilities before moving to sending a child home on suspension.

Matthew found that there is a lot of patience and understanding involved with building relationships with his student base and their parents. His team carefully looks at the function of the student’s behaviors through a different scope in order to honor the function of their action(s) while while working to stop the behavior.

"Struggling students need to be in the classroom learning rather than out of the classroom not learning and

getting further behind. I feel that fitting students to individual classroom interventions, using a Response to Intervention (RTI models for progress monitoring) and a strong Positive Behavior Interventions and Support program (PBIS) is key to promoting success for students."
