PACER The Parent Advocacy Coalition for Educational Rights, or PACER, works to expand opportunities and enhance the quality of life of children and young adults with disabilities and their families. Founded in 1977, PACER Center was created by parents of children and youth with disabilities to help other parents and families facing similar challenges. Today, PACER Center expands opportunities and enhances the quality of life of children and young adults with disabilities and their families. PACER is staffed primarily by parents of children with disabilities and works in coalition with 18 disability organizations. PACER has many different programs, for all children and parents.

  • Minnesota Parent Center: The Minnesota Parent Center is a unique statewide project designed to help families and schools build stronger ties to benefit students. We help parents be strong partners in their children's education and encourage community involvement to help all children succeed at school. We can answer questions and help you solve school-related problems. The Minnesota Parent Center provides:
    • free researched-based training for Title I schools
    • individual assistance
    • information handouts

The Minnesota Parent Center helped Edison develop Edison's Parent Group in the 2010-2011 school year, providing outreach and facilitation support and resources.

  • Parents Helping Parents: The original philosophy behind starting the PACER center, Parents Helping Parents is the idea that parents teach other parents about issues regarding their children. Today, trained parent advocates assist parents by distributing informative materials, conducting workshops and trainings, and providing one-on-one consultations with parents throughout Minnesota.
  • National Bullying Prevention Center: PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center unites, engages, and educates communities nationwide to prevent bullying through creative, relevant, and interactive resources.
