Thomas Edison Stage Crew

The Stage Crew is responsible for the following:

  • Set Design and Construction for Edison Musicals, Plays and other performances.
    • This could be rooms, walls, doorways, windows, signs, vehicles, etc.
    • We use both hand tools and power tools
  • Props - Design, construct or find
    • These are smaller items that are used in productions
      • things like tableware, phones, cameras, books, papers, suitcases, etc.
  • Lighting
    • Design what type of lighting is appropriate for each scene
    • Hang, aim, colorize and size the appropriate lighting fixtures
    • Man the Follow Spots during performances
    • Set up and Run the Lighting Cue Board during performances
  • Sound 
    • Set up Speakers, Microphones and lay wiring for performances
    • Maintain wireless microphones and get to appropriate cast members
    • Find and download appropriate music and sound effects
    • Man the sound board during performances
  • Video
    • Place cameras, projectors and cable appropriate for a performance
    • Video Tape performances
    • Edit video, add openings and credits and turn into DVDs
  • Costumes
    • Determine the appropriate type of clothing for each performer
    • Locate clothing from the various storage areas
    • Help performers when they need to do a costume change
  • Stage Managers/Running Crew
    • Hand out props to the appropriate performers at the appropriate time
    • Changing sets in between scenes
  • House Management/Ushers
    • Collect tickets
    • Hand out programs
    • Help guest find their seats
  • Dances
    • We set up the sound system for the DJ to use
    • We set up the lights to make the dance safe and enjoyable

 

As you can see, there are a lot of things that we do to help Thomas Edison Performances go well.
