Who is Ms.Skiba?
Welcome, my name is Erika Skiba, and I have been teaching Social Studies since 2005. I taught at a couple of different schools before coming to Edison. The upcoming school year 2020-2021 will be my 13th year teaching at Thomas Edison High School. I spent one year teaching abroad in Nicaragua as well. I learned a lot about Nicaraguan culture and met some fantastic students and colleagues.
I am a PROUD graduate of Minneapolis Public Schools. I graduated from Roosevelt, class of 1998! I have attended Augsburg College (played softball) and St.Cloud State for my undergraduate degree, earning my Bachelor's of Arts Degree in Psychology and a minor in Athletic Coaching. I received my Social Studies Teaching License from the University of Minnesota and completed my Masters of Education there in 2007.
I continued my educational path and pursued my administrative license in 2017 with an Ed.S. Degree from St.Thomas University. I love teaching and interacting with my students too much to leave to become a principal just yet!
In the spirit of being a life long learner, I am currently pursuing my Master's Degree in History by taking on-line classes from Pace University in New York City.
