Minneapolis Beacons engages youth as leaders and learners by transforming schools into active youth centers afterschool and in the summer, providing FREE high quality educational, recreational, and leadership development activities opportunities to nearly 4,000 kindergarten–12th grade youth and their families at our 12 Beacons Centers located throughout Minneapolis.
We concentrate on building positive relationships, meeting young people where they are, building on strengths, and having fun while learning and growing together. We engage students as leaders and learners through a variety of opportunities for skill building, positive decision making, connecting to positive peers and adults and creating leadership opportunities.
Our goal is to help young people develop skills needed to become successful adults and to graduate from high school all the while creating a powerful sense of belonging and identity in their community and school.
