The Edison Activity Council (EAC) and Edison athletic community joined together in bringing back the tradition of Edison's Blue/Gold Athletic Banquet. The event took place on Thursday, June 8, 2017 in the Edison Community Gym. Over two-hundred athletes, parents and coaches attended.
There were various recognition and awards throughout the evening. Coaches nominated students for their leadership, community service, risk taking and tenacity such as athletes with perfect school attendance and honor roll achievements. Multi-season athletes and banquet attendees voted among 3 season athletes for a male and female "athlete of the year." Edison’s many State participants were also recognized this evening! See below for a list of Awards/Recognition.
The event was a huge success in building pride and community among Edison athletes. The program highlighted success from every team within Edison, and outstanding individual athletic and academic accomplishments. A free pasta dinner was provided for all athletes plus one complimentary guest. Everyone received a raffle ticket for a chance to a prize such as Tommie gear.
We extend a very special thank-you to the EAC committee members who made this event possible by planning the program, sending out invitations, preparing the food and getting the space ready: Edison staff included Dave Salzer, Kent Gillespie, Cheryl Martin, Lisa Tucci. Edison parents and students included: Mary Jo McCollow, Connie Blegan, Jenny Arneson, Sarah Biros, Kelly McCollow, and Faith McCollow.
We look forward to seeing both new and returning athletes at next year’s Edison Blue Gold Athletic Banquet. View slide show of the banquet (below) and
