CPEO

Connecting Parents to Educational Opportunities (CPEO) is a Parent Academy Program designed especially to bring schools, parents, and community together as equal partners in the education of their children. The CPEO program is sponsored and supported by the MPS Office of Communications, Engagement and External Relations. This five week curriculum based program provides a framework for creating a community in which parens and teachers collaborate to transform each child's educational environment, both at home and at school, so that all children can achieve their greatest academic potential. CPEO is offered for parents with children in elementary, middle, and high schools.

The curriculum is designed to:

  • Help parents create home learning environments
  • Develop skills to collaborate with school staff
  • Help parents understand and navigate the school system
  • Support parents in understanding the emotional and social development of their children
  • Inform parents about post-secondary and college options

There is no cost to participate. Classes are offered online in English, Spanish, and Somali.
