Black Leadership Council Students learned of a mother in need from their advisor and Edison's teacher, John Jackson. They took action by putting together and delivering three care packages to the mother on Martin Luther King Junior Day. The care packages consisted of: cards, baby blankets, stuffed animals including "Peppa Pig", comfort snacks, and a gift certificate from Harold's Chicken Shack owned by Andre Bell, father of Edison student, Sheron Bell. The mother plans on visiting Edison with her baby once her baby is healthy. Both KSTP and Star/Tribune covered this story. Photo credit: Richard Tsong-Taatarii-Star/Tribune.
Follow up: On the last day of school, Rae-Chelle brought her baby to Edison to visit students from BLCS. The students were very excited to see Rae-Chelle and her baby and it was a very happy reunion.
