Travis Moore Class of 2016
We continue the tradition of the Convocation ceremony that brings the academic community together and serves as a platform from which scholarly endeavor can be launched. The converging of faculty and staff walking across campus to the central meeting place is meant to convey the educational journey and the partnership between educators and students as they embark together on this solemn endeavor. The wearing of the academic regalia, the cap, gown and collar remind and point toward the common goal of graduation and of the striving toward higher education.
Principal Eryn Warne opened the ceremony with a message to all students, "At Thomas Edison High School, we believe that this journey toward graduation is supported by a foundation built on three key elements. First, a feeling of acceptance, inclusion and contribution in and to the school community. Second, unwavering confidence in ourselves and in each other. Third, boundless opportunities for personal achievement. This foundation is represented in our motto: Belong. Believe. Become."
The ceremony was emceed by Genesis Smith and Shaneka Culver. Student performances included Edison’s band, choir, soloist Sharon Record, Junior And Britney King, Senior. Edison Alumnus,Travis Moore class of 2016, was invited to be the guest speaker. He shared the importance of doing well in high school and believing in yourself.
