Edison celebrates the Beginning of the School Year with the 5th Annual Convocation Ceremony. The Convocation ceremony is intended to bring the academic community together and serve as a platform from which scholarly endeavor can be launched. The converging of faculty and staff walking across campus to the central meeting place is meant to convey the educational journey and the partnership between educators and students as they embark together on this solemn endeavor. The wearing of the academic regalia, the cap, gown and collar remind and point toward the common goal of graduation and of the striving toward higher education.
This year the ceremony consisted of:
Principal Address - Carla Steinbach, who reminded students that all of them have what it takes to graduate with the skills necessary to succeed in their post-secondary aspirations.
Graduation Address - 2014 Edison alum Nancy Chang is a current student at the University of Minnesota. She is seeking a double major in Marketing and Education. Nancy encouraged Edison’s freshman to get involved in school activities, asked all students to continue to academically challenge themselves, and encouraged students to stay strong. Nancy herself was involved in over 22 clubs/activities while at Edison and graduated with honors! She thanked her teachers for teaching her the skills needed to be successful in college and life.
