Campus improvements continue over the summer with renovations to our auditorium, HVAC preparation for air conditioning, revamping the athletic field and the adjoining areas, as well as the front of the community gym at 22nd and Monroe. A joint grant proposal by the City of Minneapolis, the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization and the Vikings football organization has brought this environmentally friendly project of improving the athletic field and adjoining areas to fruition. The school district is supportive of the project and upgrades. The field and track will be redone and the field will be un-usable until the project is completed and the grass has been established. Usage is weather dependent, so while we are hoping to use the field by fall of 2014, we may not be able to use it until after the winter of 2015.
Potentially, additional work could include developing a plaza style entrance to the field at the south end of the community gym, adding in additional parking, expansion of the practice field area, and adding an out-building for tickets and concessions.
