Edison's Girls Track Team made history in 2014 by being the first Minneapolis Public Schools' female track team to win a state title. It was a close race last year as the competition was very strong. The team came in second place scoring 9 more points than last year! This year, the girls reclaimed their Class A Girls’ State title!
The girls accumulated 46 points to narrowly beat The Blake School (42 points). The boys ran hard in the heat, but came up short of earning medals. Attached is a photo of the team awards. Girls results are below:
Jia Lewis finished 2nd in the 100m dash and 2nd in the 200m dash. (20 points)
Jada Lewis finished 4th in the 100m dash and 3rd in the 200m dash. (14 points)
Girls 4x100m Relay finished 1st narrowly missing the state record! (12 points)
Two of our girls, Caliyah Rush and Linda Senaphanh, along with three of our boys, Andrew Swenson, Alejandro Edwarte, Mario Alvarado qualified for the individual Academic All-State honors!
Special thanks to everyone who was able to attend the meet. This years we saw our best turn out and we certainly had one of the largest and loudest cheering sections. Thank you for you continued dedication and support in out students. Both the boys and girls were excited to see so many staff members and parents in attendance. Thank you again!
