Zainab Mohamed was nominated by Edison’s Scholarship Committee and received the Rose Rees Peace Award from the National Council of Jewish Women. Zainab was recognized for her commitment to service, advocacy, community, and peace.

This year marks the 81st annual Rose Rees Peace Awards ceremony held on April 20, 2016, at the Beth El Synagogue. The theme was “Leading with Change” and the keynote speaker was Vice President Walter F. Mondale.

Seniors from twenty-one local schools were honored at this event. When asked what qualities make a successful leader, Zainab responded with, "A pillar in the community who is there for the people when they need them."
