Each year, Edison’s Somali Club (a student group) organizes and hosts Somali Culture Night under the guidance of Club Advisors Abdi Ogle and Abshir Omar. This year, the event took place on January 28, 2016. It was an evening that brought together parents, staff and students to celebrate the Somali culture. The evening started out with Sambusas from Banadir restaurant. After, students performed traditional dances and read poetry. This spring, there will be another Somali family night similar to this event with the hopes of adding a play and incorporating Oromo culture as well.
