Each semester, the Edison Digital Media department partners with the BrandLab to introduce students to the world of marketing and advertising.  The BrandLab is a Twin Cities organization that seeks to introduce, guide, and prepare students for careers in these areas, regardless of race or socioeconomic background.

Four Edison students – Mee Vang, Kyle Johnson, Nancy Molina, and Zahra Abdullahi – successfully completed the BrandLab program this week.

While many other school partnerships work on mock campaigns, this talented group of seniors had the opportunity to develop a real marketing campaign for Elpis Enterprises, a St. Paul based non-profit that provides job training, work experience, and job placement for homeless youth.

Partnering with advertising and marketing professionals from Target, Wingnut Advertising, and additional Twin Cities agencies, Mee, Kyle, Nancy, and Zahra researched and designed several pieces for Elpis. The campaign ranged from brochures to social media to bus designs and was pitched to leaders from Elpis, the BrandLab, and the industry.

All four students were recognized for the hard work and successful effort they put into working with the BrandLab and Elpis Enterprises.

Upon project completion, students were invited to apply and interview for the limited amount of scholarships and internships the BrandLab offers each year.

Zahra Abdullahi (fourth in photo) received a $1000 scholarship through the BrandLab, while Kyle Johnson (second in photo) received a competitive summer internship.

Kyle and Zahra are joining two other Edison seniors, Awo Mohamud and Christian Russel, who were awarded the internships and scholarships through the BrandLab last semester.
