Bilingual Family Liaison - Christie Roiz-Guevara 612-668-1307

At Edison High School, we continue to work diligently to ensure that all of our students feel connected and are successful in school. One way we do that is through our Family Liasions.  Read about these two amazing persons below.

Christie Roiz-Guevara, Bilingual Student and Family Advocate - Spanish
My name is Christie Roiz-Guevara. I have worked at Edison High School since 2004 as a Family Liaison. I am Mexican-American and a native Spanish and English speaker. I grew up migrating from Texas to Minnesota. My family decided to make Minnesota our permanent home in 1989. As a teenager, I attended three different high schools. I know how difficult it is to transition from place to place and to be separated from family and loved ones. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work at St. Catherine University. I strongly believe that with hard work, dedication and having a support system, anything is possible!

Faduma Roble, Bilingual Student and Family Advocate - Somali
My name is Faduma Roble. I have worked for MPS for 12 years. I worked at Barton Open as a bilingual Associate Educator for 10 years before I joined the MRP (Minneapolis Resident Program) last year to get my teaching license and a Master in Education. I went to school in Minneapolis and graduated from Edison High School. Coming back to Edison as a staff and working as a family liaison is an honor for me. Not only do I love what I do but most importantly I feel blessed to be able to provide support to students and their families. I was a newcomer, an ELL student and was on the same spot as our student’s years ago. I know the importance of having staff that look like our students and speak the same languages.  I look forward to work with Edison staff and to support our students and families.
