Edison’s Family Liaison, Christie Roiz-Guevara, was nominated by Todd Tratz, Edison counselor, as an outstanding educator and leader for the Minneapolis Educator Leadership Award (MELA).
Christie was selected with 6 other individuals out of more than 66 finalists to receive this prestigious award on May 15, 2017. To learn more about this award, visit the
MELA website.
Christie has worked closely with families over the past 12 years and is committed to improve communications with families. "Thank you to all the wonderful support staff at Edison High School for your continued efforts in creating new ways to reach out to all Edison families. A special thank-you to Todd Tratz and Pamela Vertina, without your creative vision this would not be possible.” said Roiz-Guevara.
The $9,950.00 grant will be used to create language specific video shorts to educate and empower families with the necessary school information so they feel better equipped to support their children in school. These supplemental instructional videos will be recorded in all of our major represented languages at Edison.
Congratulations to our forward thinking Family Liaison. We are truly honored to have such an amazing representative of Thomas Edison High School.
