Tuesday, June 2, 2015 11:45 AM

Congratulations to the following students for passing the ELPAC (EMC Language Proficiency Assessments by CARLA), a Spanish Assessment offered through the District. These students  obtained a certificate or a high achievement recognition.

Jennifer Astudillo -             Certificate
Luis M Llauca-Astudillo -      Bilingual Seal
Jonathan Cabrera -               Bilingual Seal
Alberto Zangano -               Bilingual Seal

Bilingual Seal is a new recognition system for language proficiency in both English and another language. Students must demonstrate the ability of language skills other than English by taking a test. There are two levels in the seal and one level for a certificate. Minnesota State Colleges and Universities will be required to award college credit to the seals. Minneapolis Public Schools is the first school district in the State to prepare students to receive college credit for world language proficiency through the Bilingual Seal legislation.

An Award ceremony and reception was held for these students, teachers and family members prior to the Board meeting that took place on June 9, 2015.
