We had nearly 400 people attend Edison's and Beacons' Future Tommie Night! Many Edison staff, students, parents, schools, programs, MPS district, and community members made this evening a successful event. We kicked off the Varsity event by having the NEMS band, Edison Alumni band, and Edison's band and choir performing the National anthem.
Beacons worked their magic and were able to secure JT Evans and Brynne Crockett (BdotCroc) as the DJ and Emcee! Their sound was AMAZING!
The fun didn't stop there...NEMS and Waite Park basketball teams took the court and scrimage during half-times. Edison's Yung Madness steppers, cheerleaders and Beacons hip-hoppers kept the crowd cheering as they performed during half times. Edison's robot made an appearance by launching t-shirts into the stands. There was also face painting, art displays, transportation, and Tommie Boosters information tables.
One of the main attractions were the contests of musical chairs and basketball throws. We had three big winners for these contests: Anthony Houstonijr from NEMS won the i-pad mini, Marcus Poe from NEMS won the iPod touch and Mohamed Ibrahim from Edison won the iPod nano. These grand prizes were donated by Kurt Nowacki of Rock Solid Realty & Tamsen Brock (Andrew Nowacki’s parents), Bill & Liz Jaap (Edison alum ‘81) of Good Carma, Linda & Doug Jones (Edison alum ’65) of Northstar Properties! Thank you for your generosity!
Fans in the stands also had the opportunity to win theater tickets (Edison and Morris Park Players), Tommie Gear, Northeast Booster basketballs and t-shirts, gift certificates from local restaurants and sporting event tickets which were donated by local sponsors dison Student Store, Mojo Coffee Gallery and Edison Athletic Department.
District staff showed their support by attending and participating in this event: Michel Goar – Chief Executive Officer, Cecilia Saddler – Associate Superintendent, Jenny Arneson-School Board Chair, Kim Ellison-School Board, Trent Tucker – District Athletic Director, Cynthia Mueller-Waite Park Principal, Ben Perry – NEMS Principal, and Ginger Krantz-Webster Principal.
We also had the 2nd annual Holland Neighborhood Improvement Association all you can eat Soup for Art fundraiser on Friday evening in our cafeteria. There were many amazing soups to choose from! Proceeds will go to fund community art projects. View the slide show below and other pictures of this event at Future Tommie Night and Boys Basketball C-Squad vs. Henry
