Junior Achievement Officers attend the Junior Achievement Hall of Fame
On September 18, 2013 five Junior Achievement officers (Lisa Dhanesri, Ramon Angeles, Nancy Chang, Precious Drew, and Pa Lor) and Junior Achievement Advisor, Shirley Poelstra were guests at the Junior Achievement Hall of Fame Dinner at the McNamara Center - U of M campus, where they inducted 5 top CEO's: Ken Melrose (Toro Company), Ken Powell (General Mills), Jim Ryan (Ryan Companies), Tom Rosen (Rosen's Diversified) and Mark Davis (Davisco Foods). Students heard about the CEO’s  journeys, challenges, and success. Two of our students were selected to speak in front of 365 people at this event. Precious Drew gave the Invocation and Lisa Dhanesri introduced Jim Ryan.  Nancy, Pa and Ramon assisted guests to their tables. Junior Achievement is a program that directly partners with local and national businesses. This program teaches students how to build their own business and prepares them for Regional Competitions. Edison students took first place at Regional’s in April of 2012.

Edison Students are forming teams and electing officers in their new Entrepreneurship class being offered at Thomas Edison High School this year. Business partners from BMO Harris Bank will work directly with students guiding and supporting their business plans to help prepare them for the Regional Competition (April 2014).
Thomas Edison High School is the only school in Minneapolis that offers this program. If you would like to learn more about this program, please contact Shirley Poelstra at 612.668.1336 or at Shirley.poelstra@mpls.k12.mn.us.
