Minneapolis Police Department and their Bike Cops for Kids program have teamed up with Edison High School's Digital Media Department to create a new design for their 2014 sticker and collateral. Officer Michael Kirchen (Lucy Laney) and Officer David O'Connor (Edison HS) spoke with students and shared photos of the program in action around Northeast and Minneapolis. Bike Cops for Kids rides bikes with the kids, teaches them basic bike repair, and give out bike helmets. Kids can win a new bike, bike accessories, and/or enjoy a block party for being safe and wearing their helmets!
Yang and Montoya, Seniors at Edison High School, entered the contest through Mrs. Morawiecki’s Adobe Illustrator class. There were many great designs and in the end 2 designs were chosen this year! Yang’s design captures a new direction of the program that helps kids develop the skills to repair their bikes while spending time and riding with them. Congratulations to Kou Yang and Jesus Montoya and keep an eye out for their designs as it warms up!
Finalists in the 2014 sticker design included Chue Lor, Isabelle Louise, Goachee Pha, Dwayne King, Eboni Washington, Elvis Ovillo-Cumbe, Malik Hollins, Jasmine Tappin, Jacob Mulay, and Shania Parks.
