Mr. Lance,
Hello, my name is Lance Kragness. I was born and raised in North Minneapolis and attended Minneapolis Public Schools, Kindergarten through 12th grade. I graduated in 2001 from North Community High School. After graduation I first attended North Hennepin Community College majoring in Business. As an adult after realizing that working youth is my passion, I continued my education at Metro State University with an Individualized Studies degree in Community Leadership and Youth Advocacy. In 2018 graduated from the University of St. Thomas and received my Master’s degree and Teaching Licensure as Academic Behavioral Strategist as part of the Minneapolis Public School/University of St. Thomas Special Education Cohort 2018. Most recently in May of 2021 I graduated from Minnesota State University Mankato completing an Educational Specialist K-12 Principal Licensure program.
I started my career with Minneapolis Public Schools, working in after-school programs and also for the YMCA Beacons program in 2003. In 2006, I was given an opportunity to travel the world as a business manager in the music industry, but my passion for helping youth and seeing our children succeed brought me back into the education field in 2013 which I served as Special Education Assistant before becoming an Academic/Behavior Dean at Edison High School until starting my teaching career in 2017.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family. I am happily married with 4 children of my own at home. I also enjoy being a leader in my community and spending time with friends. I love all sports (especially football) and traveling. I have a passion to serve people and help them be successful.
