Malaysia was nominated by Edison’s Scholarship Committee and received the Rose Rees Peace Award from the National Council of Jewish Women. She was recognized for her commitment to service, advocacy, community, and peace.  

 

This year marks the 82nd annual Rose Rees Peace Awards ceremony held on April 26, 2017, at the Beth El Synagogue. The theme was “Communicating in a Stormy World” and the key note speaker was Sven Sundgaard, Kare 11 Meteorologist. Seniors from twenty-two local schools were honored at this event. 

 

When asked how she communicates in a stormy world, Malaysia responded with, "When a change occurs wither positive or negative, you have to just think positive anyways. You have to think about the outcome or how you can change the outcome to make it better. This is what I do when communicating with this stormy world."
