Students can join NHS if they have a 3.2 GPA, good attendance, and a strong commitment to Thomas Edison High School.

  • Applications are accepted in October and March of each year.
  • Sophomores, juniors and seniors can apply during either membership drive.
  • Freshmen can apply in March, with the exception of any incoming freshmen that has documentation of a membership in good standing with the Junior National Honor Society program in their middle school.
  • Those freshmen with JNHS status from middle school will be offered membership in the Thomas Edison NHS after their quarter 1 grades during freshmen year.
  • Applications can be procured from Ms. Brinza, Mrs. Williams, or Ms. Ferguson in rooms 310 & 316.

In order to draw in all members, meetings occur the first Friday of each month during advisory and after school on the first Thursday of each month. Members choose the time that best fits their schedule. All meetings will be held in rooms 310 & 316.  Specialized task force groups meet as needed during additional planned advisory meeting days.  For meeting times, click here to see the Edison Activities Calendar.

Key events include the planning of Homecoming festivities & the dance; the Beach Party dance; and three Memorial Center Blood Drives.  In November of each year a banquet to honor seniors and welcome new members is held and in May the underclassmen host a senior breakfast for outgoing senior members.  For exact times of festivities, contact NHS sponsors or officers.
