Outdoor Club Holds First Ever Edison Alleycat Ride
Thursday, May 21, 2015 12:15 PM

Last week, Edison Outdoor Club held the inaugural Thomas Edison High School Alleycat Bike Ride.  Scheduled to coincide with National Bike to Week as well as the Northeast Minneapolis Art-a-Whirl, the Alleycat Ride took place on the Mississippi River bike trail.  Beginning near Boom Island Park, the ride worked its way to the Stone Arch Bridge, turning around at the I-35W bridge.  Students completed to laps of the course.  Students of all grade levels participated in the ride.  They were chaperoned by Edison High School teachers Randall Baum, who teaches Chinese, and Andrew Lyman-Butler, who teaches Chemistry.  To commenmorate the event, students will also be screen printing t-shirts.  All in all, the event was a great success.  Students got outside.  They got to honor National Bike Week.  Oh, and they had a good time.  We hope to see you at next year's ride!
