Outdoor Club & Loppet Hit the Trails
Edison Outdoor Club, along with the Loppet Foundation, is teaching Edison students to hit the trails, mountain bike trails that is. On Friday, over 15 students attended the first of three mountain biking outings. Each outing is free of charge and open to any Edison student. Bikes and helmets are also provided.
On Friday, students learned basic skills, including riding positioning, turning, shifting, braking, climbing, and descending. Students learned these skills in the field across from Edison, with the goal being that by acquiring the skills on mellow terrain the students will then be more confident once on the trail.
Speaking of trails, the next two events will take place on the single-track trails at Theodore Wirth Park. Those dates are November 10, 11 and 17. Stay tuned for a recap of those events.
