Last spring, thirteen Edison Juniors and Seniors from French (levels 3-5) were selected to join a language and culture immersion trip to France.  Students were selected based on grades, achievement in French, attendance, and their ability to be excellent ambassadors for Edison and Minneapolis.  Traveling students represent the full diversity of Edison.

Over the last 12 months, the students and their French teachers worked to secure grants and engage in fundraising so that all selected students could participate.  Students prepared presentations for the Edison Community and Sports Foundation and Northeast Lion's Club, and hosted an evening event.  In total, the group raised more than $25,000 and engaged a community of over 100 supporters.

In France, students will immerse themselves in daily life by staying with host families for 6 days in Minneapolis' sister city, Tours, France.  Students will also attend a reception at City Hall to celebrate our sister city relationship.  Following the stay in Tours, students will travel to Paris to explore history, art, language and culture for 4 days.

Join us at Sen Yai Sen Lek on April 18th from 5:30-7:00 p.m. for a post France trip celebration. Students will share their favorite stories and photos.  There will be a cash bar and free appetizers, and we encourage our guests to stay for dinner.  We are accepting free-will donations in any amount to support the 2019 Edison France Trip. RSVP on Facebook @MPS.Edison.Tommies/.
