Wednesday, February 3, 2021, marks National Girls and Women in Sports Day, and to celebrate, the MN Coalition of Women in Athletic Leadership is hosting a free virtual panel discussion and interviews from 12:00 - 12:45 pm! This event is sure to capture the attention of anyone interested in the past, present, and future of girls and women in sport, and we encourage you to tune in and share with your coaches and student athletes. The event will be recorded, so teams and athletes can view when it works best for them.
Welcome Edison's New Cross Country Head Coach, Tim Popp
Tim Popp was born and raised in Long Island, New York. After serving in the United States Peace Corps, where he met his wife, they moved back to the United States together. They eventually settled in NE Minneapolis where they’ve resided with their 2 daughters for the past 13 years. Tim Popp has spent the last 16 years working as a science teacher. He has been an avid runner for the past decade, and he currently runs with the Mill City Race Team participating in running events ranging from the mile to the marathon. He has hosted a run club at his current school, and he has started a local girls running club to encourage young runners. He is excited to join the Edison team and work to build increasing participation in the cross country running program.

MPS Hockey
The Minneapolis High School Boys and Girls hockey teams are a cooperative effort among all seven Minneapolis High Schools with Minneapolis hockey players coming together to represent the rich heritage of hockey in the city. Our first home games for boys varsity and junior varsity will be held on Friday, Jan. 22 at Parade Ice Arena and Hopkins Ice Areans. Per guidelines (found below), no spectators will be allowed at home hockey games this season, but we invite the high school community to cheer on the Minneapolis team by following the team on Facebook @MplsBoysHSPuck, Instagram @mplspuck and Twitter @MPLSBoysHSPuck and also tuning into the live stream of our games. We will provide the livestream link on our social media sites prior to each game. We hope everyone will come see us hit the ice for the 2021 season!
